Cookie Policy

This page explains how cookie files are used on rob-inhood.digital. It is a plain statement of what is stored on your device, why each category exists, and how to change your choice at any time. It is not marketing copy.

It applies to every visitor of this website, whether you are browsing the course tracks, reading about how the courses are built, or writing to us through the contact page. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it in plain terms.

What a cookie actually is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. When you return to the site, your browser hands that file back, and the site can read it. It is how a page remembers that you already closed a notice, that you are partway through a lesson, or that you asked to stay signed in.

Cookies are not programs. They cannot run on your machine, read other files, or install anything. They carry small pieces of information, usually a short identifier, a preference value, or a number that tells a page how long the file should stay.

What they hold

A short label, a setting you chose, or a session number.

What they never hold

Your password, your card details, or files from your device.

How long they stay

Either until you close the browser, or for a set number of months.

We also use your browser's local storage for a few interface preferences, such as remembering that you collapsed a section of a course outline. Local storage works in a similar way, stays on your device, and is cleared whenever you clear your browsing data.

The categories we use

Every cookie this site sets belongs to one of the four groups below. Necessary cookies are always active because the site cannot work without them. Everything else is optional and only runs if you allow it.

Necessary

Always active

Keeps your session stable while you move between pages, holds the choices you make in this notice, and protects forms from being sent twice. Without these, course pages and the contact form would not work.

Session, or up to 12 months for your stored choice

Cannot be switched off — the site depends on them

Preferences

Optional

Remember small interface settings, such as the last track you opened, whether you prefer a wider text column, or which part of a course outline you had expanded.

Up to 6 months

Switch off any time; pages simply reset to defaults

Measurement

Optional

Tells us which course pages people actually read, where visitors leave a page early, and which explanations need rewriting. Reports are read in aggregate, not as a profile of one person.

Up to 14 months

Switch off any time; the site keeps working

Advertising

Off unless you allow it

Used when we run a paid listing for a course track, so the same ad is not shown to you repeatedly and so we can tell which listing brought a visitor to the site. These cookies are only set after you agree.

Up to 13 months

Off by default; you can turn them on or off

Why we set them at all

A course site has a small number of real jobs to do, and most of them need a cookie to be done well. If we set nothing, you would be asked the same question on every page and we would have no idea which track descriptions confuse people.

Each group above answers one of those jobs. Nothing is collected to build a profile of you as a person, and we do not sell data gathered through this site.

  • Keeping a session steady. When you move from a track overview into a module list, the site needs to know it is still you on the same visit.

  • Remembering your answer here. Your choice in this notice is stored so you are not asked again on every page you open.

  • Sending a message safely. The contact form uses a cookie to make sure one submission is not recorded twice if you refresh the page.

  • Learning which pages help. Aggregate counts show which course explanations get read to the end, so we know what to improve next.

Changing your choice later

You can change or withdraw your answer whenever you like. Reopening the cookie notice from the link in the site footer lets you turn optional groups on or off again; the change takes effect on your next page load.

Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies yourself, usually under a privacy or site-data section of its settings. Blocking everything may stop parts of this site from working, including the contact form.

What we keep out of cookies

It is just as useful to know the limits. These rules apply to every cookie and every local-storage entry this site creates.

Not stored

Passwords, payment details, or the text of any message you send through the contact form.

Not stored

Files, folders, or anything else on your device. A cookie cannot reach them.

Not shared

Your cookie identifiers are not sold or handed to unrelated companies for their own use.

Not required

You can read every course page and reach the contact details without accepting optional cookies.

Common questions about cookies

Short answers to the things visitors ask us most often about this part of the site.

Do I have to accept cookies to read the course pages?

No. Every track description, the pages about how our courses are built, and our contact details stay readable with optional cookies switched off. Only the necessary group stays active, because the site cannot serve pages or submit the contact form without it.

Will turning off measurement cookies change what I see?

Nothing on the page changes. You will simply be left out of the aggregate counts we use to decide which course explanations to rewrite. No feature, course outline, or contact route is withheld from you.

If I clear my browser data, do I have to choose again?

Yes. Your choice is stored in a cookie, so clearing cookies and site data removes it and the notice will ask you once more on your next visit. That is expected behavior, not a fault on the site.

Does this policy cover other websites we link to?

No. This document covers rob-inhood.digital only. If you follow a link away from our site, the destination sets its own cookies and publishes its own notice, which we do not control.

How do I ask a question that is not answered here?

Write to info@rob-inhood.digital or send a message through our contact page. We answer Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and we will explain how a particular cookie or setting works in plain language.

Changes to this policy

When we add a cookie group or change how long a category is kept, we update this page and move the review date at the top. If the change affects what optional cookies do, the notice will ask for your choice again on your next visit.

If you want the full picture of how personal data is handled beyond cookies, the Privacy Policy covers collection, retention, and your rights. The Terms of Service describe the rules for using our course materials.
